Wine Description:

Tenuta Torciano produces Tuscan D.O.C.G. wines that signify true excellence, such as the Chianti Classico “Goldvine”. It is produced with carefully selected, handpicked Sangiovese grapes. Chianti Classico, as established by Italian Consorzio guidelines, has a minimum aging of 12 months.

The color is a deep ruby red. Its aroma is intensely fruity, with pleasant scents of cherry and violet. The flavor is balanced between a dry tannic and velvety taste.

Pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, savory meat sauces, poultry and grilled red meat.

Wine Cellar:

Tenuta Torciano Winery is located in the heart of Tuscany, 35 minutes from Florence and 20 minutes from Siena. It is surrounded by beautiful hills and a succession of unique vegetation which features towering cypresses, long stretches of beautiful vineyards, olive groves, oak woods and enchanting villages.

When you visit Tenuta Torciano Winery, you will be totally immersed in Italian culture, and welcomed by a Tuscan family that has been making wine for over 300 years. Here you will experience warm hospitality and Tuscan traditions that have been handed down for 13 generations.

Area of Production:

The very first classico area here was marked out in 1716 by Grand Duke Cosimo III de Medici, and enlarged significantly in 1932. This area became legally recognized in 1966 when Italy began formalizing its wine laws and DOC system. In 1984, Chianti Classico was promoted from DOC to DOCG status.

The modern-day Chianti Classico viticultural area now covers almost all land between Siena and Florence. It is buffered at each end by the Colli Fiorentini and Colli Senesi production zones.

Grapes:

Chianti Classico wines must contain a minimum of 80 percent of the Sangiovese variety. The remainder can be made from native grapes such as Canaiolo or Colorino, plus international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Wines made only from Sangiovese have been permitted since 1996. The use of white grape varieties such as Malvasia and Trebbiano was prohibited 10 years later.
