Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes

A friend of ours sent us a photograph while he tasted our wine Bartolomeo Super Tuscan paired with an inviting dish with meat and two side dishes. Therefore, we decided to remake in our kitchens the same dish, with some variations, and match it to Bartolomeo. The result was excellent!

Ingredients

  • Veal fillet
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt: to taste
  • Black pepper: to taste
  • Potatoes
  • Green beans
  • Garlic
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Nutmeg
  • Difficulty: simple
     
  • Preparation: 50 min.

 

Procedure:

To prepare a steak with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans, choose the cut of meat you prefer. You can choose beef or veal, or Florentine steak. Started to prepare the beans and potatoes, the steak haves to stay a few minutes on the stove and will be immediately ready to serve and eat hot.

Clean and wash the green beans, in boiling water boil the beans. Once cooked, pour in a pan two tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, put a home, and you blast the beans. Add salt and the beans are ready. You can also make a variant and cook them in the oven with béchamel and parmesan cheese. For the mashed potatoes, boil the potatoes in plenty of salted water, peel the potatoes and mash with a potato masher. Add salt, butter, milk and nutmeg. Mix well in a saucepan over low heat.

You can also add the blue cheese to give more flavor to your mashed potatoes. Alternatively, boiled carrots and make it more special. Finally, we come to the meat.

First heat the plate tightly; the meat should be at room temperature. When stored in refrigerator, pull out first. 
Cook for about 6 minutes, controlling the cooking and turn the other way. If you prefer well cooked, do not go beyond the 8/10 minutes, otherwise it will become too hard and lose flavor. Completed the cooking, move the meat on the plate and add extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, black pepper.

Your plate is complete and ready to be enjoyed along with a bottle of full-bodied red wine such as Bartolomeo Super Tuscan.
