An olive harvest is one of the most fascinating experiences you can enjoy in Tuscany. It is a wonderful way to learn a lot not only about the local wine & food traditions but also about the local culture.
While the atmosphere at the oil mill is as unique and festive as picking the olives, nothing quite compares to the love, sweat and effort put into working the groves. Families and friends work long days together to harvest Tuscany’s substantial olive groves, honoring a regional tradition passed down through generations to come.
Our olive harvest experiences for visitors to Tuscany are available in the second half of October, until the end of November. You meet our expert in the morning and you reach our beautiful olive grove where you have a general introduction to the world of extra virgin olive oil and to the harvesting techniques.
Then you start collecting olives from some selected trees assisted by our guide and by the olive farmers. During the whole harvesting experience the guide gives you facts and information about extra virgin olive oils and the culture of olive oil making in Tuscany.
This experience is designed to make you experience a wonderful authentic Italian and Tuscan traditional activity in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.
Once the olive harvest activity is completed, you will enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch with several traditional delicacies.
You will start from a rich appetizer, where you will find the classic Italian bruschetta with extra-virgin olive oil and some Tuscan cold cuts and cheeses to taste, only the best genuine food for you!
The exquisite lunch will continue with our traditional grandma lasagna and Tuscan ribollita soup with vegetables and bread.
Then, the main course: roasted meat with vegetables from organic garden, according to what the Chef decides to cook especially for you!
This mouth-watering lunch will include the tasting of many Super Tuscan and DOC Wines, and obviously, our extra virgin olive oil!
While summer is the most popular time to visit Tuscany, many travelers will agree that Autumn is one of the most exciting and unforgettable moments in the year.
Harvest season is in full swing which means new wine and olive oil tasting, and the hunt for winter white truffles begins.
Tuscany is considered the leading producer of extra-virgin olive oil in the world. This region in Central Italy is blessed with luscious olive groves and rolling vineyards, growing several types of olives.
You’ll often hear Tuscans refer to extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) as oro verde (“green gold”). Unlike regular olive oil, extra-virgin is pressed without heat and chemicals, making it the most expensive and desirable oil in the world.
Thanks to this experience you will be able to discover the art and skill behind the production of Tuscany's green gold. Unlike wine, another defining Tuscan gem, extra-virgin olive oil comes directly from the tree.
Freshness and authenticity are rich in Tuscan EVOO, reminding you of its natural sourcing with every taste.
